Home Entertainment
The Consumer Products division was created in February 2011 from the merger of the Home Entertainment and the Licensed Consumer Products businesses in order to present a unified front to the market, strengthen relationships with retail partners and build brands across DVDs and products.
The Home Entertainment business incorporates publishing, audio, music, video and licensed merchandise developed from a host of BBC properties marketed in the U.S. and Canada. Home Entertainment delivers the very best of British television on DVD and Blu-ray, across all genres including award-winning natural history (Planet Earth, Life, Blue Planet), innovative dramas (Sherlock), science-fiction (Doctor Who), costume dramas (Cranford) and cutting edge comedies (The Office). All BBC consumer products are available in major retailers across the U.S. as well as Amazon and the BBC America Shop.
The BBC Video label is brought to the United States and Canada by BBC Video Limited, managed by BBC Worldwide Americas and distributed by Warner Home Video, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
Licensed Consumer Products is responsible for the expansion of BBC Worldwide’s adult and children’s brands through the acquisition, investment, development and licensing of intellectual property in the Americas. This business builds brand franchises that allows fans of programs such as Doctor Who and Top Gear the opportunity to interact with their favorite characters beyond the TV show by extending into products and activities across numerous categories, including merchandising, live shows and DVDs.
